SIRCH Community Services just launched a new and improved website with an event calendar, and the ability to accept donations. If you’re not familiar with SIRCH, they are “an innovative charitable organization based in Ontario that creates out-of-the-box programs, services, resources and social enterprises”.

- Food Programs: The Bistro & Bakery which has two programs that address food insecurity, and isolation: Community Kitchen, and Lunch Is On Us. ( as well as the seasonal “Applesauce Project” in which property owners bring in their wild apples to be made into applesauce)
- Programs for children and young families:
- School’s Cool which is a school readiness program
- CAPC/CPNP : Free programs for expecting moms and parents with children birth to 6.
- Initiatives:
- Share the Warmth: a winter gear giveaway event
- Repair Cafe : a free community event where volunteers with repair expertise help people in the community repair their broken belongings
- Social Enterprises: Thrift Warehouses in Haliburton and Bancroft which divert reusable items from landfills each year, offer year-round employment and volunteer opportunities, provide a wide variety of low cost goods, and also offer free goods to organizations that are re-homing families or helping someone in crisis.
Based in Haliburton, they have been providing community support through their programs and initiatives since 1989!
