Technicalities is committed to building accessible websites and this site is held to the same standard.
Our standard
This site was built to conform with WCAG 2.2 Level AA.
How we test it
We use Accessibility Checker, an automated accessibility testing and fixing plugin that dynamically scans, monitors and reports on the accessibility status of our website in real-time We also use WAVE to provide secondary validation and finally a manual pass with real assistive technology like Voice Over for Safari, keyboard navigation and a colour contrast checker.
What that looks like on this site
- Every page is navigable by keyboard alone, with a visible focus indicator on every interactive element.
- A skip-to-content link is the first thing a keyboard or screen reader user reaches on every page.
- Headings follow a logical order – one H1 per page, no skipped levels.
- Every meaningful image has real alt text; decorative images are marked so screen readers skip them.
- Form fields have actual labels, not placeholder text standing in for one, and errors are described in plain language and tied to the field they belong to.
- Color and text contrast meet AA minimums (4.5:1 body text, 3:1 large text) sitewide.
- Motion respects prefers-reduced-motion; nothing autoplays with sound.
- Declared page language
- ARIA only where native HTML isn’t enough
